Game of Thrones: Oathbreaker

Arya passes a test, Rickon returns, and Jon Snow quits his night job but not before taking care of business in the latest episode of Game of Thrones, Oathbreaker.

Dothraki Widows' Retirement Home

Vaes Dothrak, it's where widowed khaleesis are supposed to live out the rest of their lives. Dany is brought there, stripped and told she's going to be put on trial because she did not return there like she was supposed to after Khal Drogo died. Daario and Jorah better kick their detective skills in high gear to find her soon. But honestly I think Drogon is probably gonna be the one to save Dany.

Drinking Games!

After Tyrion met the dragons last week, things have kind of stalled in Mereen. Tyrion's looking to play drinking games, and Varys is trying to flush out who's funding the Sons of the Harpy. Everyone's kinda just hanging around waiting for something happen, and so are we. Ultimately Varys' spies are used to send a message to the Masters.

Your Training is Now Complete

Maybe not complete but Arya finished the Daredevil portion of her training and as a reward, she got her sight back. Although do you really believe she's let go of her old life and is truly no one? She still has Needle stashed somewhere and still has her list so hopefully that won't be her undoing.

Don't Take Candy From Strangers, or Strange People For That Matter

Is anybody else complete completely creeped out by Maester Qyburn? Varys' former spies are now Qyburn's spies and Cersei has them sent all over Westeros to find out who's talking shit about her. King's Landing is really messed up right now. The Faith Militant are pretty much in charge, the Mountain is a walking, hulking zombie killing machine, and Tommen's kingship is being seduced by the religious side. The only thing we really know is Cersei is going to be put on trial, she's going to demand a trial by combat, and the zombie Mountain is gonna knock some heads.

Who Else Completely Forgot About Rickon?

Rickon hasn't been seen since season three when he and Osha were sent to House Umber because they were loyal Stark bannermen. Well, Greatjon the head of the house was loyal. Unfortunately, he died and his son, Smalljon, seriously? Greatjon & Smalljon?!? No wonder he's such an asshole. Anyway, he fears the wildlings that Jon Snow has allowed past the Wall, so he gifts Rickon to Ramsay for his help in fighting the wildlings. And to prove it's really him, he presents the severed head of Rickon's direwolf, Shaggydog. The horror!

I'm On A Boat

And Sam is predictably seasick. Last season, Jon sent Sam & Gilly to the Citadel so that Sam could train to be a Maester. But since the Citadel forbids women, Sam's plan is to drop Gilly and the baby off at his home where he assures that his mother and sister are very kind people. His father is of course another story.

Now It Ends

My first thought watching the fight between a young Ned Stark and great swordsman Ser Arthur Dayne was Neil Patrick Harris is one talented dude! But alas, it's not him. But tell me you don't see a resemblance?

Anyway, the Tower of Joy. It's something book readers have been looking forward to and I've only just heard about it. Bran sees a vision of his father and Howland Reed, Meera's father fighting Targaryen Kingsguard who are stationed at the tower and assumed to be protecting Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister. She was "kidnapped" by Rhaegar Targaryen, which leads to the popular fan theory of R + L = J. I think it's a plausible theory and makes "J" a much more important character than we thought. Plus if you think about it, Targaryens and Starks are fire and ice, and the whole series of books is called A Song of Fire and Ice, so it was right in front of book readers this entire time. But I suspect this might not be resolved until the end of the season.

In any case, the fight doesn't go the way Bran was told as Dayne gains the upper hand on his father but is stabbed in the back by Reed. And now we have to wait to see who's in that tower.

My Watch Has Ended

Wasn't it just absolutely satisfying to see justice doled out to this treasonish bunch? I actually thought there were more mutineers but seeing the main two getting hanged is perfectly fine by me. This was just as satisfying as watching Joffrey get poisoned. And quite frankly, this could be my cellphone wallpaper.

Afterwards, Jon up and quits the Night's Watch handing his cloak and leadership over to his friend Edd. Although technically, when you die your watch is over, and since Jon did die, he's perfectly within his right to walk away. Although I suspect it won't keep him from battle long.

And here's a preview of next week's episode, Book of the Stranger.
