Holy Crap! Is That Doomsday?!?

Those were the exact words that came out of my mouth the first time I saw this trailer. It's been about 8 months since the last trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and since then it's been all about Captain America: Civil War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens so we were about due for some new footage. And here it is!

At three minutes long, there's a ton going on in this trailer so lets take a closer look.

The trailer starts with some kind of formal gathering, perhaps a press event? Anyway, Clark Kent, who seems to be covering the event wonders who's the popular person pulling up.

It's none other than Bruce Wayne himself.

Once inside, Clark introduces himself and asks Bruce his thoughts on the bat vigilante in Gotham City.

And Bruce can only smirk...

Clark goes on, "Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city."

"People living in fear."

"He thinks he's above the law."

Whoa, is Batman going around and branding criminals?

Bruce responds, "The Daily Planet criticizing those who think they are above the law is... hypocritical, wouldn't you say?"

"Considering every time your hero saves a cat out of a tree, you write a puff piece editorial about an alien who could have burned the whole place down." BURN!

Some major flooding going on here, this family decides to paint a giant "S" on their roof.

And it works!

"Most of the world doesn't share your opinion Mr. Wayne."

Okay Bats. I know you keep souvenirs of the villains you've defeated, but keeping a batsuit with "Hahaha! Joke's on you BATMAN" vandalized on it is kinda sick. But then again, maybe it's a good indication of Bruce's state of mind.

"Maybe it's the Gotham City in me. We just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns."

And Lex Luthor interupts, "BOYS!"

In a very manic way, Lex remarks on Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne finally meeting. He also remarks on Clark's firm handshake being a good indicator of not getting into a fight with him. I wonder if this is just a jokey line, or if he knows the identities of the two heroes? Lex is generally considered a genius in many of his portrayals. I'm sure he could figure it out. Or maybe it's just a jokey line.

Superman lands at a Congressional hearing that's being picketed by people who would probably support Donald Trump.

Can you smell what Superman is cooking?!?!?!?!?

Senator Finch played by Holly Hunter heads the committee investigating Superman and the events in Metropolis.

The Batcave doesn't really seem all that cavey... Plus I think that's Robin's costume on the right.

Jeremy Irons as Alfred offers Bruce some obvious advice, "You're gonna go to war."

"That son of a bitch brought the war to us."

Bruce watches on as the World Engine tears Metropolis apart.

Alfred offers more advice, "You know you can't win this. It's suicide." And here's a great shot of armored Batman looking kinda tired.

Seriously, no clue how Bats gets out of this.

Well he could escape in the Batwing!

But Superman is pretty speedy himself.

He's also bulletproof as Batman is just wasting ammo.

Wow, Superman straight up tries to kill Batman with his heat vision.

Lois Lane remarks on how psychotic Lex Luthor is.

And he responds that "psychotic" is just a three syllable word for any thought to big for little minds. Condescending much Zuckerberg?

Wow! Batman actually got the jump on Supes!

"It's time you learned what it means to be a man." Batman actually get s good shot in and is that Superman actually bleeding?!?

It's widely speculated that this scene along with the Batman unmasked clip is some sort of dream sequence of Bruce's. And it clearly has to be. There are these flying things, a Superman army, and Batman would never wear a trenchcoat- dude's already got a cape! And remember the last time Zack Snyder did a dream sequence? It was called Suckerpunch. And that turned out great didn't it? ;) Anyway, those flying things are possibly called parademons, who are the troops used by Darkseid, the big baddie in the DC Universe.

"STAY DOWN!"

"If I wanted it, you'd be dead already!" I'm guessing that Batman's persistence and unwillingness to 'stay down' earns him a lot of respect from Superman.

This is Tao Okamoto playing Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's assistant, and she's bringing something to him.

Come to daddy.

It's the remains of Zod.

"If man won't kill god, the devil will do it!" I'm used to Luthor being a megalomaniac businessman, but I'm starting to give a pass to mad scientist Luthor.

As Dr. Frankenstein would say, "It's Alive!!!"

"What have you done?" You're about to get an answer.

Holy Crap! Is that Doomsday?!? I know the Internet is abuzz with how bad and unlike Doomsday he looks because that's what the Internet does. And I do agree that he looks like a cross between a cave troll from Lord of the Rings, Abomination from The Incredible Hulk, and the Ninja Turtles from the latest movie. But all those things are pretty ugly, and I always saw Doomsday as very uneasy on the eyes, so I actually really like the surprise this gave me.

"Oh sh@#!" Keep it PG-13 Bats...

This may be the only problem I have with the trailer. While Doomsday using heat vision (probably because Zod had it) is pretty cool, Batman would not just put his hands up like that to try and protect himself like he's about to be in a car crash. I feel like he'd do more to try and get out of the way. Other than that, nice explosion!

Okay, so the Bat being helpless is just an excuse for Wonder Woman to save the day!

"She with you?"

"I thought she was with you." Already funnier than Man of Steel.

And here's your Big Three! I am now officially both excited and worried. This trailer has hyped me up to actually expecting big things from the movie. But Zack Snyder doesn't have the greatest track record. I'll admit, I'm still bitter about Suckerpunch, so now I'm worried my high hopes are just leading me towards disappointment. Still, there's no way I'm NOT watching this.

So what did you think? More or less excited? How does Doomsday look to you? And was Wonder Woman's entrance all that you hoped it would be?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out March 25th, 2016.
