The Force Awakens Trailer Breakdown

There's no Star Wars fanfare this time, nor is there a surprise appearance of Han Solo triggering waves of nostalgia. But that doesn't mean this latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens gives me any less goosebumps. And here it is!

And in case you're not on Star Wars overload yet, here's my breakdown!

The trailer starts with a shot of Rey in her mask and apparently she has a GoPro strapped to the side of her goggles.

She's a scavenger, so here she is scavenging. I'm guessing she's inside that huge Star Destroyer crashed on her planet that we saw in the last trailer.

A voice asks, "Who are you?" It may be the voice of Lupita Nyong'o playing a pirate named Maz Kanata.

Wait a minute, masked figure looking for something in a dark place. Isn't this how Guardians of the Galaxy started?

Rey responds, "I'm no one." as she and BB8 go for a nice desert stroll on her home planet of Jakku.

An unknown ship departs Jakku off in the distance.

The Luke Skywalker parallel is strong. Rey looks to be stuck on a remote and sandy planet but longs for something else, something bigger, something better.

Storm Troopers of the First Order, Assemble!

"I was raised to do one thing. But I've got nothing to fight for." Sounds like Finn is a broken Stormtrooper.

A damaged TIE Fighter tumbles toward a planet. Could this possibly be how Finn arrives/crashes on Jakku?

How much do you want to bet that this city Finn is looking at is a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Mos Eisley?

"We ain't found shit!" Sorry, always cracks me up.

"Nothing will stand in our way." Kylo Ren and the infamous JJ Abrams lens flare make their first appearance.

Kylo Ren wants to finish what Vader started. And what would that be? Eliminating the Jedi? Completing the Death Star?

It does look like he went back to the forest moon of Endor and retrieved Vader's charred helmet. Kind of a creepy keepsake if you ask me.

Whatever Kylo is doing to Poe Dameron...

Dameron does not look like he's enjoying it.

TIE Fighters chasing the Millennium Falcon. Sometimes, things never change.

She is the fastest ship in the fleet after all...

"There were stories about what happened." Finn and Rey get a history lesson from Han.

"It's true. All of it." And let me pull my Blu-Rays of Star Wars 4-6 and show you.

Ludicrous speed!!!

Is there anything cooler than the Millennium Falcon flying through hyperspace?

Kylo and his Knights of Ren posse look like they're about to cause trouble.

X-Wings swooping into battle.

"The dark side." Stormtroopers ready for battle. Possibly against those X-Wings that are coming in from the water?

I just see TIE Fighters falling out of the sky.

Finn and Dameron are all chummy at this Resistance base.

This is how trailers screw with you. Han mentions, "The Jedi" right when Finn appears. He does end up wielding Luke's lightsaber. Is the trailer giving away too much? Or is it a flat out red herring?

Bye Bye TIE

Something just exploded in front of Finn, Rey & BB8. Maybe it was Rey's speeder?

Whatever it was, they're completely shocked by it.

Portal Robot?

Luke? Luke, is that you?

Captain Phasma strutting and showing off her bling.

Why is Rey crying? Who just died?!? Is that a body in front of her?!?

These guys always seem to get themselves into trouble.

30 years ago, things never change...

Although BB8 being the new go to droid over R2D2 is a big change.

Sounds like Leia saying, "The Force. It's calling to you." But who is she talking to? And you know if they call themselves the Resistance now, why are they still sporting the Rebel Alliance logo?

X-Wing TIE Fighter dog fights - always fun

Which Stormtrooper is gonna bust their head on a door.

Remember Luke shooting at Stormtroopers when they're escaping the Death Star? This totally reminds me of that scene.

Force push?

Oh no! Millennium Falcon on fire?!?

A control room being blown up.

First shot of Princess Leia, and she does not look happy at all. In fact she has to be consoled by Han. She hasn't looked this sad since Alderaan blew up.

Finn, lightsaber, fear.

Can you see the look of "Oh Shit!" in Finn's eyes?

"Just let it in." It sounds like Leia is pleading with someone, be it Finn, Rey or someone else.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th, less than two months away!
