Avengers: Age of Ultron, Third Trailer's the Charm

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron is out in less than two months and their third and latest trailer just released thanks to a very vigilant tweeting fanbase. My breakdown of the last trailer went into snarky territory as I was kind of underwhelmed by its overall bleak tone and seemingly unfinished FX. The third trailer on the other hand has raised my excitement level back up with a healthy dose of Ultron, by putting the playfulness and heroism back in our heroes, by looking much cleaner and finished than the previous trailer, and finally by giving us a first look at the Vision.

The trailer starts with some sweeping aerial shots, and then the Maximoff twins approaching a throne with Ultron sitting in it.

"I was designed... to save the world." Anybody else think this shot sorta looks like Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget?

"People would look to the sky and see... hope." It appears Ultron has gone to the William Shatner school for speech as he speaks with the same dramatic pauses.

"I'll take that from them first." What a dick.

Ultron unplugging from the Matrix.

Literally speaking, now there are no strings on me.

"There's only one path to peace." Um, explosions? Yeah, actually he'd think that.

"Their extinction." What are you, Skynet?!?

Stark Tower is officially rebranded the Avengers Tower with a shiny new "A" on it.

"I tried to create a suit of armor around the world." It looks like "Dummy" has found some friends.

"But I created something terrible." Was it Iron Man 2? I keed! I keed!

"Artificial intelligence." How did Jarvis go so right, yet Ultron go so wrong?

"It's called the Ultron program." Ultron eh? Who names these things?

Tony rocking a neato Bruce Lee shirt.

Thor getting tossed around again. He got tossed around a lot in the first Avengers.

"I'm sick of watching people pay for our mistakes."

Cap failed to save whoever was in that car thanks to a weak bumper.

Steve and Tony talking in a clip that premiered at the Marvel event last October.

"Isn't why we fight so we can end the fight and go home?!?" Silly Tony. The fight never ends. Not as long as Disney has something to say about it.

Looks like Black Widow and Bruce Banner do indeed get cozy in this film.

"Well, you amazingly failed." Black Widow always has the one-liners.

Suit up!

What is this?!? It happens so fast it looks like Wolverine's claws coming out, but freezing it here, it looks like 9 separate shafts coming out of someone's hand. Hawkeye's arrows? Not a clue about this one.

Okay, I audibly squeed when I saw this, in my office at work. Quite the cool group shot in slo-mo action.

Black Widow exiting the Quinjet on her motorcycle like she's done in the previous trailers.

Cap surveying the land.

Banner ready to Hulk-out.

Tony holding Loki's sceptre!

Thor in a bath. Because you can't fight evil when you're dirty.

Hawkeye and lens flare.

Avengers assemble! In my living room!

"Here we all are with nothing but our wit and our will to save the world."

Iron Man drops into place.

Iron Man, Thor, and Cap face off against a giant Ultron along with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

"So stand and fight!" Nick Fury pep talks usually come after someone dies... Just saying...

Slide and fire!

It is your destiny! - Emperor Palpatine

"No way we all get through this." Way to be Debbie Downer Tony...

"I got no plans tomorrow night." Cap, always ready to party.

Hawkeye running through the forest.

Cap squaring off against Ultron.

And his shield actually penetrated Ultron!

Ultron tosses the shield away casually. Nevermind the fact that they're fighting on top of a semi-trailer.

"I'm always picking up after you boys." I just gotta say I'm glad Black Widow went back to the curly hair.

She's got the shield.

"We can tear them apart... from the inside."

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch do indeed get some shots in on the Avengers.

It's assumed that Hulk is at some point under Scarlet Witch's hex.

Which can explain why he attacks Iron Man.

Who's doing a bang up job at getting manhandled. It's also nice that Hulk vs. Hulkbuster isn't the focus of this trailer.

Scarlet Witch also gets into Black Widow's mind.

Quicksilver running towards Cap.

And down goes Cap! Even with Cap's powers, this isn't really a fair fight.

Could Thor be under Scarlet Witch's influence as well?

Boom goes the dynamite!

Captain America seems to have the worst luck in this trailer. Not being able to save some people in a car, getting punched by Quicksilver, and now on top of a car that's flipping over.

Ultron ready for flight.

It looks like Cap gets a lot of one on one time with Ultron.

"Is that the best you can do?!?"

Ultron laughs it off.

And summons his drone army.

"You had to ask." I'm enjoying the lighthearted nature here. Just because you're facing off against a ridiculously overpowered adversary doesn't mean you should lose your sense of humor.

You know Black Widow's fighting batons are dangerous because they light up.

This guy is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, FYI.

Very nice top-down shot of the Avengers fighting the drones. You've got Thor at the bottom, and going clockwise, Iron Man firing his repulsors, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, Captain America and Scarlet Witch which might confirm her switching sides by the end. Where's Quicksilver? He might be running too fast for anybody to see.

Hulk SMASH!

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1st.

But not without one last shot...

Of Vision!

The Marvel marketing machine is doing its best to keep the hype level up for this movie. I'd say they're doing a great job.
