Game of Thrones Teaser #5

Game of Thrones is about three months away, and these Three-Eyed Raven Sight teasers still haven't shown anything substantial. But then again, that's why they're called teasers. Here's the latest one.

Everything happens fast so let's take a closer look at these images.

A sword being forged. When I first saw this, I thought it looked like the Eye of Sauron.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer 2

A few days ago, Marvel released the second trailer to this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron, on schedule this time with no Hydra problems. The trailer contains almost all new footage, and continues the ominous tone of the first one with a slow, creepy piano riff of "I've Got No Strings" playing in the background. And was it just me or did some of the CGI effects look... unfinished? Some of the textures didn't look quite right on the Hulk, Iron Man and Ultron, and some of their movements look kind of choppy. Or maybe I just need better Internet. They do have three and a half months left before the movie premieres (holy crap, it's that close?!?) so I'm sure things will be fine, but this is the first time I've been underwhelmed by anything Avengers related. Mind you, it's still my number one anticipated movie of the year, but maybe I've just got too much other stuff going on to worry about it now. In any case, if for some reason you haven't seen the trailer, here it is and a short breakdown afterwards.

Mortal Kombat X: Kung Lao and Kitana

First there was the Scorpion and Sub-Zero reveal. Then Raiden, the thunder god got a gameplay trailer. Now, two more characters are being showcased in a Mortal Kombat video, and it's more of the bloody, gory, and graphic gameplay we've come to know from the franchise. Kung Lao is back with his razor hat (which reminds me of Tron here) and Kitana is back with her fans. Check it out.

Mortal Kombat X comes out April 14, 2015.

The Latest CHAPPiE Trailer Looks Like Short Circuit Meets RoboCop

A new CHAPPiE trailer is out, it's a lot more action oriented than the first, and it gives us some more plot details. It looks like Hugh Jackman's character is trying to get his giant mecha robots piloted remotely by humans for law enforcement, whereas the current regime of "scouts" are already successful. Dev Patel's character has created a new kind of artificial intelligence that is capable of learning. Sigourney Weaver and Jackman see the new robot as a threat to mankind and want to destroy it, and a robot reminiscent of ED-209 from RoboCop is deployed. Cue the action.

CHAPPiE opens in theaters March 6th.

And here are some screenshots of the excellent robot designs in the film.

Is it too late to change the name?

The first Ant-Man trailer premiered last night during Marvel's Agent Carter (which is surprisingly good!) and in the unlikely event that you haven't seen it yet, here it is!

It starts off fairly serious with the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) trying to convince Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) to take up the mantle. And in the most asshole yet charming way that only Paul Rudd can do, he notes just how silly the name is, which gives an indication that this film probably won't, or more likely can't be all that serious. So let's get to the breakdown.

My Five Least Anticipated Films of 2015

I don't normally talk about stuff I'm not interested in here on nerdy views, but since I already told you about the films I'm anticipating this year, it seemed only fair to devote some time to the ones I'm not so psyched about. I could have just put together a list of romantic comedies, but these are high profile films I feel like I should be interested in. But for one reason or another, I'm just not. And who knows, maybe you're excited about one of these films, and you can try to convince me otherwise.

5. Inside Out

What's it about?: Inside Out takes place in the mind of a young girl, Riley Anderson, where five emotions try to lead her through life.

Why I should be excited but I'm not: Pixar is generally one of my favorite film studios. They've made some truly awesome movies including the Toy Story trilogy, The Incredibles, WALL-E and Up. But is the bloom finally off the rose? Pixar's last few movies have been some of the least critically receptive and I just haven't been interested in any of them since Toy Story 3. Add to that a plot that doesn't interest me and simply reminds me of a failed Fox sitcom called Herman's Head, and I just feel pretty "eh" about Inside Out.

When it opens: June 19th

Agent Carter Premieres Tonight

Just a reminder that Marvel's Agent Carter premieres tonight on ABC. The eight-part limited series follows Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) from Captain America: The First Avenger, as she adjusts to life after the war ends. It's the 1940's, it's a male dominated America, and she's a secret agent leading a double life. Maybe it'll be like a cross between Mad Men and Alias?

In the first episode tonight, Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) is framed for selling weapons to the enemy, and Carter has to help clear his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy).

Gotham Returns

Just a reminder that Gotham returns tonight with an all new episode titled Rogues Gallery. Det. James Gordon goes to work at Arkham Asylum with Dr. Leslie Thompkins played by Morena Baccarin, Fish Mooney is still scheming, and the Penguin looks to be causing more trouble.
