Godzilla Trailer Breakdown

The official Godzilla trailer just came out and here it is.



Now let's take a closer look.



The trailer starts with Bryan Cranston desperately trying to find an authority figure to talk to, while the camera pans up over cars trying to get out of a city only to reveal a crashed plane.

Apparently, the government has attributed whatever devastation has happened to "natural disasters" and Cranston calls them on their bullshit. Meanwhile, more buildings fall, and more people run away.

Looks like Las Vegas got wasted.

And maybe New York did too? Or more likely it's the New York New York casino in Vegas.

"It is gonna send us back to the stone age!"

It's a literal tidal wave of devastation. God help us all.

In what looks to be a tieback/homage to the original Godzilla movie, in 1954 under the guise of nuclear testing, the Japanese were trying to kill the monster they discovered. In the original movie, nuclear radiation is what creates Godzilla.

"You have no idea what's coming!" You always have to be the smartest guy, don't you Walter White?

Godzilla's tail?

Not entirely sure what this is. Looks like glowing octopus suckers on an upside-down missile.

Hey, Ken Watanabe is in this movie! Makes sense with all the Inception music going on in this trailer.

Kick-Ass asks, "Can you kill it?" Oh, I think you're gonna need more than a couple of sticks and Hit Girl to kill it.

Paratroopers jumping over San Francisco?

A Prometheus-like team inside a giant cavern with a giant monster skeleton in it.

At this point in the trailer, we finally get the iconic Godzilla roar as this appendage comes crashing down. There's confirmation that Godzilla will be fighting one or two other monsters in the film. This may be part of one of the "Mutos." A giant flying, multi-limbed monster.

Godzilla money shot. As if a couple of doors are gonna keep him out.

The more I'm learning about this film, the more interested I'm getting. It's an official reboot by Legendary Pictures, who brought us Inception & a massively successful reboot of Batman. All signs point to Godzilla being an anti-hero in this movie, possibly laying waste to cities as collateral damage when he's fighting other monsters. And who's to say Godzilla is responsible for all the devastation seen in the trailer? Anyway, as long as he looks right and is fighting other monsters, I'm in.

Godzilla is scheduled to be released on May 16th.
