Deadline.com is reporting in an official release from Warner Bros. that Jesse Eisenberg will be playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Zack Snyder directed Batman vs. Superman. Also, Jeremy Irons has been cast to play Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler. I'm usually the first person to say keep an open mind, and let's see how this goes, but Warner Bros. is really doing their damnedest to help me close it. A youthful Luthor worked on Smallville, but that was a different setting and Superman hadn't been established yet. Does Eisenberg have the gravitas to play such an imposing character when he's mainly known for playing nerdy roles? Or maybe they're changing the role from the evil businessman we're familiar with to a geeky software magnate? Who knows, but you know what? Whether it's good or bad, Warner Bros. just got your attention and surprised the heck out of you... Again...
