LEGO Ghostbusters are Coming This Year!
Credit: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/36088 |
According to ghostbustersnews.com, the 30th Anniversary Ghostbuster LEGO set will be the next CUUSOO set to come out. This was a fan submitted set, and entered a lengthy review period, but now it's official and a set consisting of the Ecto-1 and 4 minifig Ghostbusters is coming out later this year. Here's the official announcement video. It's only an announcement and I'm already so excited. My head's gonna explode when this actually comes out. :P

The Goldbergs: Come for the Nostalgia, Stay for the Funny
The Goldbergs has become my latest TV addiction. I started watching it because of the 80's gimmick, and half a season later, the gimmick is still going strong, but now the family has completely grown on me. And Adam Goldberg, the series creator, and youngest member of the household has become someone I completely identify with. I can point to three episodes that made me a fan.

24: Live Another Day Premiere Date
Jack is back! 24: Live Another Day will premiere on Monday May 5th with a 2-hour episode. This time around it's a 12 episode season, hmmm, I think I suggested this way back in 2010 when I was doing recaps. Anyway, with a shorter season that still spans the course of one day, I expect to see way more action, and much less filler. Coming back are Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O'Brian, Kim Raver as Audrey Raines, and her father former Secretary of Defense James Heller played by William Devane. Additionally, Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck has been cast as a CIA agent. I'm definitely looking forward to this.
Monday January 13, 2014 Catchup
Let's not bury the lead. The Game of Thrones Season 4 trailer is out! It has King Joffrey still being an utter prat, Ser Jorah Mormont dishing some advice, Daenerys Targaryen offering an ultimatum, Tyrion in cuffs, and tons more. Simply put, there's a lot of "Whose side are you on?" kind of talk. Game of Thrones premieres Sunday April 6th.

30th Anniversary Of Everything Nerdy
Well maybe not everything nerdy, but 1984 was a banner year for nerdy stuff coming out. So prepare yourself to see a plethora of 30th Anniversary paraphernalia released throughout the year. Here's a look at the things I'm excited for.
Can you believe Transformers is 30 years old? The cartoon was essentially an animated advertisement to sell toys that Hasbro bought & rebranded from the Japanese company Takara. And boy did those commercials work because the original toy line surged in popularity, and is still sought after today as collectors items. The brand has continued over the years with various animated series, the latest of which featured the return of Peter Cullen & Frank Welker as the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron, a recently relaunched comic book series, three live-action movies with diminishing returns in quality and a 4th one releasing in June, and way more toys than you can shake a stick at with the officially released Masterpiece line which features extremely detailed versions of the G1 line, and 3rd party releases which in many cases are superior to any Transformers I've ever seen. On the radar this year, look for Masterpiece releases of Wheeljack, Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee, and a special edition Year of the Horse Optimus Prime. Also, BotCon was announced for June 19th-22nd in Pasadena, CA and I'm sure there will plenty of 30th Anniversary celebrations there.

Friday January 3, 2014 Holiday Catchup
Happy New Year! Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. Here are a few things that came up recently that you probably didn't miss, but I'd like to talk about anyway.
We've got our first look at the Guardians of the Galaxy, courtesy of director James Gunn's twitter. From left to right there's Zoe Saldana as green-skinned Gamora, Chris Pratt as anti-hero Peter Quill aka Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon who will be voiced by Bradley Cooper, WWE wrestler Dave Batista as musclebound Drax the Destroyer, and finally the giant tree dude is Groot who will be voiced by Vin Diesel. If you've watched the end credits of the last Thor movie, you'll get an idea of how weird this movie is going to be, and this group pic just reinforces that weirdness. You can check out a more detailed breakdown over at www.cinemablend.com.
